Ratings

Stan was the only Democratic candidate in the Third District Democrat Primary 2002 whose rating was "recommended" in the Judicial Advisory Poll of the Illinois State Bar Association. The Illinois State Bar Association, is an organization of 34,000 lawyers in Illinois. In each judicial election, the staff of the Bar Association sends a questionnaire to each lawyer in the election district, aski"ng members to rate all the candidates for any judicial office. The ISBA" has been performing this polling for more than a decade. In the poll for the Third District Appellate Court, seven hundred and thirty lawyers were polled in twenty-one counties, The poll Is completely independent and bi-partisan. Stan was also the only Democratic candidate in the Third District whose rating was "recommended" by the Illinois State Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee for the Third Appellate District. This committee consists of more than thirty lawyers practicing in the Third Appellate District. Each candidate provides the Committee with answers to a rather extensive questionnaire about the candidate's practice. The committee then assigns Investigators who do an investigation of the candidate and speak with other lawyers with whom the candidate has had cases and any other persons they care to, who may have Information about the candidate. Stan provided the Committee with the names of twenty attorneys against whom he had conducted litigation over the thirty-two years of his practice.
